Politics

I hate politics!
I hate this time of year because of elections.
I am sure you are thinking, "She should appreciate
that we can vote and that we are American and that
we are free!" I DO appreciate those things, well the
American and the free part, but let's be honest I don't
vote. I guess when I found out that the votes from the
electoral colleges are all that matter in the Presidential
election, I decided not to waste my time. Let's get back
to where I was headed with this, the reasoning behind
my hate. Where, oh where should I begin?

1. It is lie after lie after lie. Who can make the better
promise and then not keep it? What happened to
honesty? I never know what to believe. Everyone can
make promises, but only people with true character
and integrity can keep them.

2. Instead of focusing on what their strengths are
and what they think they can bring to the table, they
dig up the dirt, expose the skeletons in each others
closets and bash each other over religion, upbringing,
lifestyle, previous jobs, kids, etc, etc. I guess I don't
understand how this makes anyone look good, everyone
has a past, some with more shady areas than others, but
we all do have something we're not proud of. How does
this make them a better candidate, in reality I just wonder
why I have to choose the lesser of two evils?

3. The unbelievable amounts of money spent on the
campaigns, I think that money could be better spent on
what they promised to do when they have office.

4. I hate how they "think" they know what the average
American needs, pretty sure they have no idea what my
family and friends need. In their million dollar homes,
with fancy clothes and cars, someone who cooks and cleans,
they are not worried about how they are going to pay their
bills or if they will ever be able to get into a house. They
aren't pinching every penny hoping that someday they can
come out ahead or working multiple jobs to make ends meet.
Simply put, they don't live the life of an average American,
how can they possibly understand? I am sure someone is
going to tell me that "They once lived that way", but then
please tell me "Then why don't they get it right?"

5. It consumes people, media, everything. Yes, I get that
this is a historic election and the President is an important
job and I should care more, but for me its a "I'll believe it
when I see it" kind of thing. The negativity of it is all over.
And I hate having it shoved down my throat.

I agree and disagree with both candidates, some issues
are of more importance to me than others, but I think
the "game" of politics ruins the true purpose. Each party
gets so caught up in their own agendas, they forget what
really matters. Clearly politics is not my thing, but I think
it brings out the worst in everyone. It shows the ugly side
of human nature. I hate to think of where America will be
when the girls are adults.

I think it's great you share your opinions! Most of the time I'm not really brave enough to do that on my blog :) I agree with you on a lot of those points! Especially all the wasted campaign money...what a crock!!! That money could be put to MUCH better use!

Ok, I'm going to agree with what you've said, but tell you that you should vote to make a difference and help stop the stuff that you hate. You guys looked awesome Sunday night!!!!
