The NOT SO HOT List

OK, this is just a rant for my own sake, so please don't get offended.
I know it is a LAME thing to blog about, but it is driving me NUTS!!
(Oh, and for the record, Justun has NOTHING to do with this, he
thinks I am a HUGE nerd, he just doesn't understand)
I am so sick of people saying how HOT Michael Phelps is ...
(you know the 8-time Gold Medal Olympian)
Please take a closer look people:

I will start out by giving him due credit:

1. He does have a hot athletic body, no doubt. Not exactly my kind
of "HOT" body, but hot all the same. (Look at the other guy, his body
is even better!)

2. He is a hell of a swimmer and the most amazing athlete I think
I have ever seen.

BUT...

HE IS NOT HOT, he is the goofiest looking guy I have ever seen.
OK that is an exaggeration, not ever, but he is still a huge goof.
(I even posted a semi-good picture of him, it was hard to come by)
He talks funny, like in dubbed Kung-Fu movies when the mouth
keeps moving after they have finished talking and he slurs, please
tell me how that is sexy? He has big ears and crooked teeth. Like I
said Goof with a capital G. The other swimmers have equally hot
bodies and no one is gushing over them and they ARE hotter.
Apparently, if you win 8 GOLD medals, you are automatically hot,
sorry folks I beg to differ. GET A GRIP!!!

Next on my NOT SO HOT list:

Robert Pattinson (plays Edward in "Twilight" the movie)
Ok, he is not ugly, I will give him that. He will probably do a great
job I'm sure, but he is just not what I pictured in my head AT ALL!
HELLO, Edward has perfect teeth, perfect body, perfect
EVERYTHING. And Robert Pattinson just doesn't do it for me, he
will always be Cedric Diggory to me (Harry Potter, Goblet of Fire).
Yes I love Harry Potter, too. Justun is right, I AM A BIG NERD!
It's okay I am totally cool with it.

He also pales in comparison to the actor who Stephanie Meyer had
hoped to play the part and I am in 100% agreement with her on this.
Henry Cavill would have been much better to look at. Oh, how I wish
I were Bella! Please judge for yourself and if you disagree with me,
please keep it to yourself, I DO NOT WANT TO HEAR IT!!!

And off the soapbox I step, thanks for bearing with me.

Please give a Warm Welcome to...

J

He joined our family a little over 2 weeks ago, as a reward for Abby's
improved sleeping patterns (YEAH!!!) and as a favor to someone who
could no longer keep him. He seems to be a pretty well behaved dog,
no barking or biting and he is starting to really understand commands.
He has already dug into my tomato plants and chewed off the wire
nuts for the sprinklers, so he is far from perfect. Hopefully, he will
continue to learn and my reservations will disappear.

8 Years and counting...

I realize I am never on top of this blog thing, but I didn't want this
to pass (too far) without mentioning it.

Justun & I celebrated our 8th Anniversary on August 5, I can't believe
its been that long. OK, I can. I have known Justun roughly half my life
and I consider myself the "lucky"one in our marriage. So, to prevent
this from becoming too much of a love fest, here are a few of my
favorite things about Justun and why I LOVE being his wife (well on
good days anyways!)

1. He can make me laugh or smile even when I am fuming MAD.
2. He will help me do anything (laundry, toilets, vacuuming, you
    name it)
3. He has this CRAZY CUTE half smile.
4. He works his tail off for our family.
5. He plays Barbies and Princesses with our girls.
6. He's not afraid to hug his mom and dad and tell them he loves
    them.
7. He is amazingly patient.
8. He puts up with me (hungry or in the early morning), its a
tough job but someone's got to do it.

I LOVE you to pieces Justun. You are PERFECT for me!

*P.S.: I wanted to wish a Happy Anniversary to my friend Jeri's
parents, Randy and Jennie Tatton. They suggested that Justun
and I share their anniversary (we were looking for a "good"
August date) and seeing that they had been married for 28 years
at that point, we figured it was a "good" omen. Thanks for letting
us share your day, you are an amazing example of what marriage
should be and we love you. We are only 28 years behind :)

1st Day of Kindergarten

OK, let's all go back in time for a minute:

Tuesday, August 5 our "big girl" Abby started Kindergarten.
Yeah Abby! She was so excited and not a bit nervous until
we were driving over to the school and she says, "Mom, I'm
nervous, (pause) I don't know why I am nervous." When we
finally get there I can tell by the look on her face she wasn't
sure how to act and that she really was nervous. HOLD IT
TOGETHER BREE, HOLD IT TOGETHER!!! So we find some
of her friends from preschool and our neighborhood and they
are really cute to her and she smiles, WHEW, we are gonna
be OK! Then here comes the bad part: I try to turn on my
camera and what the HELL?, my camera batteries are DEAD,
I contemplated chucking the thing across the playground.
Yeah, like that wouldn't have made a scene. Anyhow, so I let
that go for now (I'll get pictures after school) and the teachers
are telling them to line up along walls and fences depending on
who their teachers are. Kids start frieking out, parents start losing
their cool and I'm thinking Abby's gonna cry, so I whisper/yell to
her that she's gonna have so much fun and I love her and she
says she loves me back and smiles. Yep, still gonna make it.
Then the teachers come out and tell the kids to go ahead and go
in and Abby looks at me with her excited face and says, "Can
I go in too?" I tell her yep, go ahead and have fun, she smiles
and walks in. YYYYYEEEEESSSSSSSSS!!!  WE DID IT, NO
TEARS FROM EITHER OF US! I couldn't be prouder of her for
being BRAVE amid all the breakdowns! Way to go Ab!

Now fast forward to after school: the teachers walk them out and
I can see her scanning the parents looking for me and getting a
little anxious, she sees me and unleashes a HUGE smile and
starts running to me. I get down to catch her in a hug and I ask
how it was, "GREAT Mom, it was GREAT!" We are gonna be
alright. Now I ask her if I can take her picture since I couldn't
before school (stupid friekin' batteries/camera), NOT A CHANCE!
She whips out the impossible child routine and I say, "Fine, let's go."
Another battle lost, and at this point I'm alright with that. So, now you
know why I have NO pictures of Abby on her first day of Kindergarten.
I guess you'll have to use your imagination.

Abby's 2nd Day of Kindergarten!
